Hyderabad, June 11: Justice Srikrishna Committee will hold a teleconference with NRIs from the state in their next visit to the state next week.
Speaking to reporters here today, committee member secretary VK Duggal said that some NRIs wanted to share their views on the bifurcation of the state and the committee had decided to hear them.
“During our visit next week, we will hold a teleconference with NRIs,” Duggal said.
He said that the consultation process with various organisations and political parties would come to an end next week and begin field visits thereafter. To a query, Duggal said the committee has decided not to visit those districts in Telangana where bypolls are going to be held for 12 Assembly seats before midAugust.
He wanted media not to give much importance to their district visits as the committee was interested to know the feelings of the people.
He said the threemonth long exercise of the committee to consult various groups was ‘extremely well and hugely productive’.
Duggal said that the hospitality of Hyderabad was fantastic and he relished ‘biryani and qubani ka meetha’.
Duggal said that some persons, who submitted the representations, attributed motives that the committee made up its mind on Telangana. “I have said no to such questions,” Duggal said and added that the committee was still going through the 1.20 lakh petitions it had received.
In this current visit, around 15 groups, five of them women groups, met the committee and presented their arguments either in favour of Telangana or United Andhra.
