As expected, the Telangana Congress leaders complained to President Pranab Mukherjee that the Seemandhra leaders, including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and those from TDP and YSR Congress Party are conspiring to delay the debate on Andhra Pradesh Re-Organization Bill 2013.
They complained to Pranab Mukherjee that despite a 42-day deadline set by the President for eliciting opinion, the Assembly could not continue debate on Telangana Draft Bill even after 14 days of the session due to hurdles being created by Seemandhra leaders.
The Telangana Congress leaders today called on the President at Bollaram Rashtrapathi Nilayam and submitted a two-page memorandum seeking his intervention for a speedy debate and refuse time extension and pass the Telanaga Bill in Parliament. “We are sad to inform you that Seemandhra leaders are deliberately disrupting the proceedings of the Assembly and Council with a view to prevent the bill from reaching Parliament”, they stated in the memorandum.
Talking to the media later at the Secretariat along with Union Minister Balram Naik and MP G Sukhender Reddy, Minister K Jana Reddy today took serious exception to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Seemandhra leaders for conspiring to delay debate on Telangana bill. He also criticized Speaker Nadendla Manohar for adjourning the House till January 3, either intentionally or for giving time to study the details of the bill. The Speaker should use his discretionary powers and ensure that the debate on the Telangana Draft Bill be conducted in the House and send the collective opinion to the President before the deadline January 23.
Jana Reddy alleged that Seemandhra leaders are seeking more time in order to sabotage the process of creation of Telangana. Seemanhdra leaders should abstain from spreading jealousy and hatred among the people by intentionally obstructing the debate in the Assembly, he said, adding that instead they can express their opinions and make suggestions during the debate. Then the Parliament will act accordingly, he added.
