T-Ministers to meet Sonia today

Hyderabad, December 27: Telangana ministers in the Rosaiah Cabinet, who have faxed a joint resignation letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi yesterday, have now decided to go to New Delhi tomorrow to seek a clear timeframe for creation of a separate state.

They have also met Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas urging the latter to impress upon the party high command on the issue.

Telangana ministers Ponnala Lakshmaiah, R Venkat Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, J Geeta Reddy, DK Aruna and Sunita Laxma Reddy met at the residence of minister Jupalli Krishna Rao here to discuss the prevailing political situation in the State.

Besides City ministers D Nagender and M Mukesh Goud, ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha, P Sabita Reddy and B Sudershan Reddy did not attend the meeting.

Talking to newsmen later, Ponnala Lakshmaiah asserted that formation of Telangana state would be possible only with the Congress party.

The Opposition parties who have done a U-turn should tender an apology to people of the region.

“We (Telangana ministers) are going to Delhi to tell the party high command that the present volatile situation in the region will come down only if the Central Government makes an announcement for having a specific time frame in respect of state’s bifurcation process. Unlike other parties the Congress has never opposed Telangana issue,’’ he claimed.

Meanwhile, Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud, who also met the PCC president D Srinivas at the latter’s residence, told media persons later that except for fixing a time frame to the process there was no need for the Centre to make a third statement on the issue. He wanted the PCC president to go to Delhi along with the Telangana ministers to convince the Congress Central leadership on the issue.
