T-JAC asks employees to participate in general strike

Godavarikhani, September 13: Hailing all employees’ unions in Singareni Collieries Limited for their support to Telangana agitation, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday asked the other unions in the region to participate in the general strike starting from September 13.

Addressing employees unions at Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district, Prof Kodandaram said that the Singareni Collieries employees have proved themselves as a role model for other unions in the State. He said if all sections of the society display similar unity, then the statehood for Telangana would soon be a reality.

The JAC chairman said, “With all sections of people making collective and united efforts towards Telangana, no one can obstruct its formation.” He asked the employees to participate in the general strike and make it a success.

After boycotting duties, he asked the employees not to sit in their houses, and agitate for statehood agitation by participating in rallies and hunger strikes along with all people and other leaders.

Another Telangana leader Mallepalle Lakshmaih said the participation of Singareni employees in the general strike would mount pressure on the Centre towards achieving the separate statehood. He said the Centre would cow down to employees pressure and take a decision on the bifurcation of state immediately.
