The Telangana state government has truncated the Sankranti holidays for junior colleges to compensate for the extension of the holiday by two days.
The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) had earlier announced the second-term holidays from January 12 to 18. The BIE asked all principals to adhere to the changes. The BIE decided to cut down on the holidays for second term (Sankranti vacation) as it had given two extra days as holidays in the first term (Dasara vacation).
