‘T’ decision after Vice-President’s elections, claims KCR

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday claimed that the Centre might announce its decision on Telangana statehood immediately after the Vice-President’s election.

Talking to media persons after unveiling the statue of Telangana protagonist Prof Jaya Shanker in Kanteshwar village of Nizamabad district, KCR said that the TRS and other groups have maintained calm for some time as Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has promised a favourable announcement on the statehood soon. However, he said that the people in the region would not remain silent if Centre fails to announce its decision after the vice-president’s election.

KCR threatened that this time the agitation would be more severe and people might go to any extent to achieve statehood for the region. He pointed out that creation of separate Telangana was a dream of Prof Jaya Shankar and realisation of his dream would be a real tribute to the protagonist.

Prof Jaya Shankar, he said, inspired him to form TRS Party in 2001 to fight against the injustice meted out to the people of Telangana region. If we fail to raise the banner of revolt against the domination of Seemaandhra people, then our future will be plunged into darkness, he warned.
