The Telangana Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday approached the Hyderabad High Court seeking disqualification of nine rebel MLCs.
In his petition, CLP Whip MS Prabhakar reportedly complained of inaction by Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud against nine Congress MLCs who switched loyalties to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He sought the intervention of High Court for disqualification of rebel MLCs under Anti-Defection and other relevant laws.
The High Court has directed the Advocate General to file his counter by January 27.
The MLCs whose disqualification has been sought include Bhanu Prasad, KR Amos, Yadav Reddy, Jagadeshwara Reddy, Rajeshwar Rao, Bhupal Reddy, Rajalingam and Nethi Vidyasagar. (INN)
