T-Cong MPs firm on continuing agitation

The Telangana Congress MPs, who were suspended for four days from Lok Sabha on Tuesday, announced that they would continue their protests until the Centre announces a decision on Telangana statehood.

Talking to media persons, Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannatham said that the MPs have stalled the proceedings of the Lok Sabha in view of long pending aspiration and demand of people in Telangana region. He said that the MPs were ready to face any consequences for achieving the separate state.

Stating that the suspension from Lok Sabha for four days would not dilute their statehood demand, Nalgonda Gutta Sukhender Reddy described it as `black day’ in the history of ruling Congress party. Though the Congress High Command has been mounting pressure on the MPs, they will continue our protests and there was no question of bowing down to pressure, said Peddapalli MP G Vivek.

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakhar said that the MPs were satisfied that they expressing people’s demand in the House.

“Until the Centre announces the process for Telangana state formation, the MPs will not withdraw their agitation,” he said.

The MPs stated that they would stage a protest in front of statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament on Wednesday.

Describing their suspension from the Lok Sabha as a ‘minor’ issue, they said their main goal was to achieve Telangana State. They said they were ready to sacrifice anything, including the elected posts for Telangana.

By not opposing the suspension of MPs, they alleged that the true face of BJP was exposed in the Parliament. They appealed to all leaders from Telangana region to join hands to achieve statehood for the region. (INN)
