The Telangana Congress leaders on Friday unanimously resolved to mount pressure on the party High Command for a favourable decision on the formation of Telangana State.
In a meeting held at Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy’s residence, the leaders decided to meet again to finalise the future course of action to achieve statehood for the region. Talking to media persons later, government whip E Anil and MLA Bhikshamaiah Goud said that the leaders hope to achieve Telangana State by 2014. They said that many leaders did not turn up for meeting due to Good Friday and Hanuman Jayanthi.
Responding to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram setting a deadline for the Congress and Telugu Desam Party to make their stand clear on Telangana before April 24, the Congress leaders said that the JAC was in no way connected to them and they would not abide to such deadlines.
The meeting was also attended by MLAs Lingaiah, Sudhir Reddy and Balu Nayak.
