T-Cong leaders put off key decision to Dec 28

The Congress party leaders from the Telangana region on Wednesday decided to postpone the key decision that planned to take if the party High Command fail to announced its decision on Telangana issue by December 9.

The decision has been postponed in view of the all-party meeting on Telangana proposed to be held by the Centre on December 28. The Telangana Congress MPs too have decided to go soft till December 28 over the statehood issue. Earlier, the MPs have warned to take key decision if the Centre failed to take favourable decision with regard to Telangana by December 9, the third anniversary of announcement of formation of Telangana State by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Welcoming the announcement of all-party meeting, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy hailed the T-Congress MPs for their efforts in convincing the Centre. Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat here, he asked political parties to express a favorable stand on Telangana issue.

Jana Reddy expressed confidence that the all-party meeting would find a permanent solution to the Telangana issue by deciding in favour of granting statehood to the region. However, he warned of serious consequences if the meeting fails to take a favourable decision.

PCC General Secretary G Niranjan also welcomed the Centre’s decision and hoped that all-party meeting would decide in favour of statehood for Telangana.
