Telangana Congress Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah today demanded that the TRS Government should implement its manifesto promises.
Talking to press persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, he said that crop loan waiver should be made applicable to full extent, but not in parts. Several congress senior leaders expressed their discontent over the statement made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao that he will waive crop loans for one year from June 2013 to June 2014. He alleged that the TRS which came to power on poll plank of waiving all crop loans, is now deceiving them.
Ponnala said that the TRS should rethink before making such big promises and assurances during general elections, if they are unaffordable.
KCR should keep his promise on loan waiver as he cannot go back, he said. Lakshmaiah said that the Congress is with the farmers to fight for their cause. He appealed to the farming community not to get panicky on loans. ‘We the congress leaders being the opposition will stand by the farmers in Telangana State until total loans are waived’. He maintained that it is the Congress Party that paved way for a golden Telangana State. The Congress chief stated that they will pull up the officials and government if they failed to keep their promises.(NSS)
