T Class IV staff end stir on KTR’s assurance

The Class IV employees today withdrew their agitation on the assurance of Municipal Administration Minister K T Ramarao that they will be absorbed into Telangana State service.

The IV Class employees, natives of Telangana, who were being allotted to Andhra Pradesh State as part of division of Secretariat employees, staged a dharna in front of the C-Block on Tuesday demanding that the Telangana government bring them back to Telangana State.

It may be mentioned here that the Telangana state government had assured the Class IV employees in this regard when they staged a dharna carrying petrol bottles at the TNGO Bhavan a few days ago and withdrew their agitation with the government’s assurance. But the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders to them to report for duty at Amaravathi before October 3.

The Class IV employees again staged a dharna today alleging that nobody was bothering about their problem. Police personnel controlled the agitating employees when the situation turned serious with the employees’ firm attitude. The employees were not convinced though the GAD officials discussed with the employees on the issue.

On knowing the issue, KTR and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma invited the employees’ representatives for a discussion. The employees’ team placed their demand before the minister. When KTR directed the Chief Secretary to take back all the Class IV employees immediately, the employees withdrew their agitation with the assurance of the Minister. (NSS)
