Ninety-first birthday of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was celebrated across Telangana State on Friday.
In the State capital here, a program was organized at the State BJP office on Mozamjahi Road where saris to poor women and tricycles to handicapped were distributed.
Speaking on the occasion, Union minister for labour & employment Bandaru Dattatraya said today the people of the country were celebrating two festivals — one birthday of former prime minister AB Vajpayee and second “Christmas festival”.
Recalling the services of Vajpayee to the people and the country, Dattatraya said the Hyderabad Metro Rail works were started during the Vajpayee government. The birthday of Vajpayee was being celebrated in the country as “Good Governance Day”. Greater Hyderabad BJP president B Venkat Reddy, State party vice-president Nagurao Namaji and several others attended the function. (NSS)
