Telangana is one region the Upper caste with only 10.7 % population is ruling the roost with 38 Reddys MLA and another 30 Upper caste MLA out of 91 open category Mlas.SC and STs have 28 reserved seats.
IN Parakal only 9000 Reddy are voters but the Money and political clout at their disposal have forced 3 parties to put up a Reddy candidate.
If people have laid down their lives and scores of others sacrificed their jobs or lost their precious careers for the sake of the Telangana movement. But when it comes to electoral politics, all these sacrifices are futile as the pro- Telangana parties, too, are dominated by only Caste rich and influential people. And one requires either money power or the support of a godfather to become an MLA or an MP. A woman police official D. Nalini, who had resigned from the plum post of deputy superintendent of police for the sake of Telangana last year, has realised this a bit late. She thought the Telangana parties would acknowledge her sacrifice for the sake of the movement, but her dreams were completely shattered.
Nalini, who hit the national headlines by taking up an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi last year, wanted to get into politics by contesting the ongoing by elections to Parkal assembly seat in Warangal, but unfortunately, she was rejected by all the parties. She knocked the door of every political party — the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Congress and even the BJP, seeking their support but she drew blank everywhere. Even the Telangana political joint action committee has ignored her plea.
Nalini is trying to woo the voters but will she suceed is a big question with Moneybag and caste politics.The hope for a social justice in Telangana suceed or its remains a dream.
Left with no job and no political post, Nalini is now planning to contest the Parkal bypoll as an Independent. But going by the centrality of money and liquor in politics, the chances of Nalini winning the seat are very bleak.
