Telangana Auto Drivers’ Joint Action Committee convener Mohd Amanullah Khan has appealed to the State government to implement the High Court order regarding registration of autos in the next two days or they would be constrained to lay a siege to the Transport Office.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Amanullah Khan said the State government had released GO No 90 permitting registration of 20,000 autos. When the High Court stayed the GO, the Transport officials had immediately stopped registration of some 300 new autos within an hour of the court stay order. But when the court dismissed a PIL against the GO two weeks ago, the Transport officials failed to register the newly purchased autos for the reasons best known to them, Amanullah Khan wondered.
The auto union leader said when they met the Commissioner of the Transport department about this lapse, the latter irresponsibly said, “Can’t you wait for some more days when you had waited for eight months?”. Khan alleged that at first the Commissioner had claimed that he had not received the HC order, but later changed his tune saying that he would look into the matter. He said if the Transport officials failed to do their job of registering the 300 autos immediately, they would be forced to storm the Transport Office. If all their demands were not met immediately, they would organize “Chalo Assembly” during the session and also call for “Auto Bandh”.
