Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Assembly today paid rich tributes to departed sitting Congress MLA from Paleru of Khammam district Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.
Moving a condolence motion in the House soon after its resumption, leader of the House K Chandrasekhara Rao said Ramreddy Venkat Reddy was ill for quite some time. His death has created a void in politics and the State government spent Rs 84 lakh on his medical expenses, KCR said. The Chief Minister also said the departed Congress leader, who held a ministerial post earlier, was very much fond of agriculture and cattle breeding, he noted. He condoled the death and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members.
Congress floor leader K Jana Reddy recalled his association with Ramreddy Venkat Reddy for 33 years. He was very active leader with a focus on agriculture development, he said. He also said the departed leader offered untiring services for agriculture development. Venkat Reddy’s death is irreparable loss to the Congress and to the State.
Getting emotional, former minister J. Geetha Reddy said she could not digest the passing away of Venkat Venkat Reddy. “He used to sit by my side in the House and indeed his departure is a void and great loss to our party”, she noted.
BJP leader Lakshman, MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi also expressed sympathies at the demise. Left parties leaders Ravindra Kumar and S Rajaiah also condoled the death and urged the State government to set up a memorial in Khammam district to perpetuate his memory. (NSS)
