T Assembly discusses achievements of Asif Jahi Sultanate

The issue of ignoring the achievements of Asif Jahi Sultanate by Telangana government became the matter of debate in the assembly on Thursday but the government avoided giving any clear answer to the question. After the struggle for separate Telangana now the ‘divide’ between north and south Telangana came to the fore on the floor of the Telangana Assembly. Congress MLA Dr. G Chinna Reddy criticized government for promoting northern Telangana culture in the southern Telangana. He objected on the name given to lake restoration programme as the ‘Kakatiya Mission’. ‘Most of the lakes and tanks in Mahboobnagar and other districts of south Telangana were dug and developed by different rulers and not by the Kakatiya rulers,” he said.

He was hinting at the lakes developed by Asif Jahi rulers especially the 7th Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan. The Muslim MLAs reportedly remained tightlipped during the discussion though they should have been the one to raise the issue.
