Good News: Now get passport in a week, police verification later

New Delhi: The Indian government has decided to do away with police verification for fresh normal category applicants.

According to a Zeenews.com report, the passport office will issue normal passports on a priority basis and leave the police verification for a later date as per the new norms.

However, you need to submit application with copies of Aadhaar, Voter ID and PAN Card, with an affidavit swearing that you have no criminal case pending against you, then the passport office will issue a passport to you.

The affidavit will be processed post-police verification basis, subject to successful online validation of Aadhaar number.
