Sympathy responsible for YSRCP win: TDP

The TDP has come to the conclusion that the victory of the YSR Congress in the just concluded by-elections was due to the sympathy generated among the people over the arrest of that party’s president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. TDP Politburo met here on Saturday and discussed about the debacle of the party.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, party senior leaders Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, Nama Nageswara Rao and Dadi Veerabhadra Rao have said that the arrest of Jagan just a few days before the by-elections, AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement that Congress would have made Jagan chief minister if he remained in the Congress, taking Jagan to the court in a police van and the statement of another Congress leader Vayalar Ravi were primarily responsible for the victory of the YSRCP.

They said that they would analyze public opinion at the grass root level and then decide about a detailed action plan. For this, there was need for taking the opinions of the party leaders of 18 Assembly and Nellore Lok Sabha constituencies, who worked for the victory of the party. From June 18 to 28, they said, review meetings of two constituencies per day would be held in the presence of the party president Chandrababu Naidu. After the review, there would be an enlarged meeting of the party as well as the meeting of the TDLP, they added. Party Politburo would meet twice or thrice after these review meetings and decide about steps to be taken on political and policy levels.

They claimed that the TDP has been fighting for the past eight years against the Congress and the YSR Congress to save democracy and swore to continue the fight in future also. They said that in future also they would continue this fight more effectively.

Stating that because of the by-elections people’s problems were ignored, the TDP leaders said they would continue their fight against the government that could not show solutions to these problems. The party would focus on three main issues – Saving the State, saving the State from corruption and people’s problems. The politburo expressed its gratitude for the untiring efforts of the party in the by-elections despite adverse conditions.
