Civil Aviation Secretary Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi will be the new Election Commissioner. Zaidi who is a 1976- batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, retired on Tuesday. He will be replaced by 1978- batch officer K. N. Srivastava and SNA Zaidi will be given the post of election commissioner which fell vacant after V. S. Sampath was promoted as Chief Election Commissioner after S. Y. Quraishi’s retirement in June.
