National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Mamata Sharma on Saturday criticised the Madhya Pradesh Government for not taking adequate steps in the wake of a Swiss woman being raped by seven men in Datia. The Swiss couple was camping near Jhadia village when seven men allegedly looted them and raped the woman. A case has been registered against seven unidentified people in Datia”s Civil Lines police station. Sharma said: “The government has remained stoic and are not taking appropriate steps in the right direction.” The woman was cycling along with her husband from Orchha to Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The couple was camping near Jhadia village when seven men allegedly looted them and raped the woman. A case has been registered against seven unidentified people in Datia Civil Lines police station in Madhya Pradesh. Datia”s Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) ML Dhoni said, “We are waiting for the medical reports. This incident took place at 8:30pm. The molesters also stole their laptop and were demanding Rs.10000. We are trying to trace the culprits.” The police have identified the age group of the seven accused on the basis of the complaint. The woman has been taken to the Gwalior hospital. (ANI)
