A family in the town OF Mahboob Nagar is subjected to a lot of torment owing to the wrong identification of an ailment. Suspected that the family is suffering from swine-flu, they have been ostracized by people in their neighborhood.
According to sources Syed Minhaz and his wife Arshiya are teachers in a private school. Recently, Arshiya, who was suffering from cold and cough, was taken to the government hospital on February 14 and after conducting tests, mistakenly doctors declares that she is suffering from swine flu and advised her to go to Hyderabad for a better medical treatment. They also made this suggestion to the District Health officials at Gadwal.
Immediately, the district officials led by the Tahsildar, reached their house and forcebally send them to Hyderabad through 108, creating a big scene in the colony and warned their neighbors against interacting with the couple.
Surprisingly, after reaching Hyderabad, doctors conducted various tests on the couple and diagnosed that Ashriya and Minhaz are not suffering from Swine flu.
But the agony for the family began after returning to Mahbubnagar. Their neighbors stopped interacting with them fearing that they were suffering from swine flu. They were watched suspiciously. Arshiya’s mother Razia Begum said that the entire family was facing a lot of agony as they were subjected to psychological torture.
The school management terminated the services of the couple, being afraid of the spread of swine flu. Even their children were made to sit separately in the school, she groans.
Syed Minhaz said that it was shocking to see that they were being ostracized in the society for no fault of theirs, though the District Health officers said that swine flu was not a dreaded disease and that it would not spread if preventive measures were taken.
He said that his wife was not suffering from swine flu but just because of a small mistake by the district doctors, their lives have shattered. He wonders as how such things were taking place in the hometown of the state health minister.
