Dubai, August 01: Two more persons have died of swine flu in Saudi Arabia raising the deaths so far to four, the health officials said.
The victims, a 32-year-old male nurse from Qassim and a 25-year-old man from Asir, have died yesterday while undergoing treatment in hospitals.
The male nurse developed flu symptoms last Friday and went to Nafi Hospital in the Riyadh. He was later found to have severe lung inflammation and was given flu medicines but he died yesterday, a Saudi Gazette news report said.
The second victim developed flu symptoms a week ago and went to a hospital in Al-Namass in the Asir region.
Clinical tests showed that he was suffering from throat inflammation and chest pain, aggravated by his heavy smoking.
He left the hospital the same day but returned on Tuesday where his condition deteriorated with severe lung inflammation.
Saudi’s earlier swine flu deaths were a 30-year-old Saudi man and a 28-year-old Indonesian woman. Both died earlier this week.
Saudi Arabia has so far registered 230 cases of swine flu.
