Appealing the people to keep healthy and live in hygienic conditions to keep at bay any diseases or swine flu, Navin Chandra, Principal Secretary, health department today said that Swine Flue cases are not alarming.
Addressing a press conference at his Secretariat Chambers here, he said that in 2014 out of 865 cases registered, 16 swine flu deaths were reported (including 11 in Telangana and 5 in Andhra Pradesh). People with symptoms of the flu should be away from others, wash hands frequently, wear nose masks, vulnerables should isolate themselves and take remedial measures by visiting a doctor. It is caused due to environment and did not come from foreign areas he said adding that they are creating awareness among the people.
He explained swine flue deaths reported year wise are – 52 (out of 682 testes positive out of 2,927 cases in 2009), 56 in 2010 (755 positive out of 3,639 cases), 1 in 302 cases in 2011, 34 in 2012 (326 positive out of 1589 cases) and 8 in 2013 (71 positive out of 1028 cases). (NSS)
