Swine flu death toll touches 51

The health authorities on Tuesday informed that the death toll due to Swine flu this year has touched 51.

According to the Swine Flu Bulletin, this year, from 1st January till 23th February, of 4,096 samples tested, as many as 1,325 were found to be positive and number of deaths because of other complications and Swine flu as on date are 51. On 23th February, of 56 samples tested, nine were found positive. “The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to 23th February) is showing decrease in intensity. The figures are 30, 34, 24, 47, 56 and 9,” the bulletin said.

The authorities have also assured that sufficient stock of medicine is available at all Teaching hospitals, District Hospitals and Area Hospitals. There are enough testing kits and kits for Viral Transport Medium (VTM). “Citizens are advised to take precaution such as reporting to the hospital on the first symptoms of Swine flu like High Fever, Sneezing cough and body pains. Citizens are also advised to avoid going to crowded places, clean their hands as frequently as possible, avoid hand shaking, cover nose/mouth while sneezing and cough,” the bulletin said. (INN)
