Youth & Sports Minister T Padma Rao Goud today said a modern swimming pool with international standards would be built on the premises of Telangana Sports School in Hakimpet on the outskirts of the capital city.
The minister participated in some developmental programs at the site and asked the officials to submit proposals for the sports school and synthetic tracks. He inaugurated Rs 3.70 cr worth compound wall and Rs 1.80 cr indoor stadium and distributed sports uniforms to some of the sportspersons. On the occasion, the minister expressed displeasure that the sports school lacks the facility of a swimming pool.
“Now we will construct an international standard swimming pool for the students here. If necessary, the government will seek funds from the Centre for the purpose”, he said. Promising better facilities and hygienic and nutritious food and health services to the students, the minister asked the officials to develop the sports school to achieve name at international level. The students should focus on education and sports and bring name to the State, he added. (NSS)
