New Delhi: American singer Taylor Swift’s “1989” has sold close to a phenomenal nine million units worldwide. Her hold on Indian fans has also proven unshakeable as the album has gone Triple Platinum here.
The album has spawned multiple hits including “Shake it off”, “Blank space”, “Style”, “Bad blood” and the latest single “Wildest dreams”.
To commemorate the artist’s success in India, Devraj Sanyal, managing director and CEO of Universal Music Group South Asia, personally felicitated Swift with a Triple Platinum plaque in Singapore where the artist was touring.
“Taylor is undoubtedly one of the biggest pop stars in the world and she showed us why here in Singapore where she performed to a packed house of screaming fans! We presented her with the South Asia plaque and she was thrilled to know that ‘1989’ has hit Triple Platinum here,” Sanyal said in a statement.
Sanyal also wished Swift a prosperous Diwali and presented her with a necklace of goddess Lakshmi, created by designer Reshma Merchant from the House of Milk.
