New Delhi: Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India, which will make its electoral debut in the upcoming civic polls, on Tuesday welcomed the notification on delimitation of municipal wards in Delhi saying the party is “geared up” for the contest.
The party, which was launched in October last year, has also formed an eight-member team headed by Ajit Jha to oversee the municipal election in Delhi.
“Swaraj India understands the role and importance of local bodies and municipal governance for efficient functioning of any democracy. We hope that the election dates shall be notified as soon as possible,” the party said in a statement.
Swaraj India has recently initiated a campaign ‘Jawab Do Hisab Do’ aiming to reach out to 10 lakh houses in Delhi which would culminate into an event on February 12 at the Ramlila Ground in central Delhi.
Ahead of municipal polls in the national capital, the Delhi government today notified final delimitation of 272 wards with the composition of wards in each Assembly constituency varying unlike before.
As per the mandate, the municipal polls are required to be completed before April 27.
