New Delhi: Swara Bhasker turned the showstopper for designer Karishma Deepa Sondhi on the fourth day of the FDCI Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week 2018 (LMIFW).
The ‘Anaarkali of Aarah’ actor Swara Bhasker looked elegant in a golden-purple Lehenga from the ‘INAAYAT’ collection. This collection celebrates the female spirit of gentle perseverance. Though varied silhouettes and handcrafted details, Karishma Deepa Sondhi takes us through it with beauty, grace, and kindness.
Speaking about the collection, Bhasker said, “I really like how they have used layers. There are so many layers to the lives of women. And we always forget, we think that at this moment, our version of strength is the only version of strength. We always forget that women have been strong for centuries.”
The last day of the event also featured SHIVAN and NARRESH, India’s first luxury holiday brand, which announced the launch of its latest collection – Koi Series. The collection features six new prints – eponymous Koi, Koi Coal, Mattie, Vann, Urvi, and Iconotribe, where it captures the indigenous art form of the late 20th century.
Designer Siddhartha Tytler also participated in the event, with his Spring Summer 2019 collection that inspired from the “crazy 80s”. With a purely black and white colour palette, the silhouettes consisted of body-con dresses, structured jackets, crop tops and oversized looks.
While interacting with the media after stealing the show at the ramp, Bhasker, who is known for being outspoken and speaking her mind, also commented on the #MeToo movement that has gained momentum in India.
The ‘Veere Di Wedding’ star said that the campaign, which began in Hollywood in 2017, took a long time coming to India and it’s good that it has finally come.
