MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar slammed Union Minister Jayant Sinha for felicitating the eight convicts in the Alimuddin lynching case in Jharkhand.
The Veere Di Wedding actress took to her twitter handle and wrote, “Absolutely horrifying! The people who ought to ensure that ‘rule of law’ is maintained on their watch r garlanding those who have broken the law & been convicted for the same! Could the toxic hate politics of @BJP4India get any more naked really???’

For those unversed, a fast track court in March this year, sentenced the 11 convicts to life imprisonment for lynching a 55-year-old Muslim trader, Alimuddin alias Asgar Ali in Ramgarh. However, the Jharkhand High Court on June 29 suspended the life sentence of eight persons and them granted bail.

Expressing happiness over their release from prison, Jayant, a Minister of State for Civil Aviation in the Modi government on Friday garlanded them and offered them sweets.
However, photographs of Jayant felicitating eight convicts widely circulated on social media platforms and drew flak for the “despicable” act.
