Swamy’s remark on JNU for media publicity, says Congress

Hyderabad, Sept. 26 (ANI): The Congress Party on Saturday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy’s remark on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and professors is aimed at gaining media publicity.

Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao said that if the BJP leader continues to make such statements then he won’t be taken seriously in his own party.

“This is a routine practice. He always wants to be in the news. For news purpose, he will make some statements. The media should also not give him any publicity, then only he can keep quiet,” Rao told ANI.

“Subramanian Swamy always gets false allegations against Indira Gandhi and Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru. Basically he is against the Congress Party and the leaders who had sacrificed their lives for this nation,” he added.

Subramanian Swamy had earlier termed the JNU students and professors as ‘naxalites’.

Speaking on his recommendation to change the name of JNU to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University, he said that Bose was far more educated as compared to Nehru. (ANI)
