Five days mega campaign of Swacch Hyderabad has been successful in gaining good response and it had rid the streets of a whopping 32,250 tonnes of garbage and debris.
The debris collected is triple the amount of waste that the municipal corporation would have usually removed in the normal course of five days.
The final day of the campaign saw Chief Minister KCR who set a scorching pace for officials and citizens lined the streets where the CM travelled in his convoy. He was accompanied by Deputy CM Md Mahmood Ali, MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and officials from the GHMC, water board and other departments.
According to GHMC nearly 7 lakh citizens actively took part in the campaign that began on May 16.
The corporation referring to the amount of litter removed from the city streets said it usually lifts around 3,600 tonnes of garbage daily however with public participation and VVIPs involvement, nearly 8,000 tonnes of litter was removed every day during the programme.
It furthered said that with the help of 500 instant repairing teams, over 15,000 quick repair works were taken up during the five-day campaign.
