Swachh Bharath drive: GHMC gives away awards

In order to implement Swachh Bharath program more effectively, the GHMC has decided to reward Auto drivers and household women, who are separating the wet and dry waste regularly and handing over to the Auto Rickshaw.

 

As a part of this program, Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy announced lucky draw in which R. Ravi, Auto rickshaw worker got Rs 10,000 cash prize and Naseema from Vambay Colony in Rajendranagar Circle got a saree for prompt separation of dry and wet waste. The Rajendranagar Circle is one of the best municipal circles which was implementing the Swachh Bharath Program more effectively, he added.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said the GHMC has been collecting around 5000 metric tons of garbage daily and efforts were being made for 100% segregation and for this various initiatives were taken to ensure effective implementing dry and wet waste by involving educational institutions, NSS volunteers and so on. The GHMC was planning to create awareness among the volunteers and students, Residential welfare associations about the benefits and usages of dry and waste along with around 4000 community resource persons to be deployed so that they will visit each and every house and educate them about the segregation.

Cash awards every month

The GHMC was planning to announce cash awards every month to the best Auto worker, maid servant and household women. The Commissioner has inspected the pillar bins consisting of dry and waste separately in Rajendranagar Circle and explained about this to the students of Vanitha Maha Vidyalaya.

Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner (South), Padma, CMOH,  Dasharath, Deputy Commissioner, Rajendranagar and senior officials have participated in the program.(NSS)
