New Delhi, Oct. 1 : Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ message has reached to masses as the behavioural change can be seen in them.
“Swachh Bharat involves motivating people to avoid littering and keeping their surroundings clean and deciding against open defecation. This is primarily the behavioural change that is essential for the success of this mission,” he added.
Naidu also said that like any other flagship programme of the government, the Swachh Bharat Mission too is an important mission. He further appealed to the citizens to take the mission forward.
“We need to carry forward the momentum of the Swachh Bharat Mission. We cannot afford to let this fail. A clean India is the most profound statement we can make to the world, which is watching us,” Naidu added.
Naidu also said that the government has introduced mechanical cleaning systems in all 400 major railway stations and 169 smaller stations.
“Bio-toilets have been installed in 8,368 railway coaches and another 4,400 will be covered next year,” he added. (ANI)
