Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh made unannounced visits at New Delhi Railway Station and Paharganj Police Station today so as to check on whether the public spaces were clean.
He was accompanied by Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung and Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi.
“Since the time Prime Minister has announced the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ scheme, everybody has taken it seriously and worked in the same direction,” said Singh.
The Home Minister said all the arrangements at the Paharganj Police Station were perfectly fine, and added that all the records were kept at the appropriate place.
“At the New Delhi Railway station we found fault with just one thing, and that is the public toilets, for which the concerned head was given instructions accordingly,” Singh added.
The ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was launched by Prime Minster Modi on the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign, which was launched nationwide on October 2, focuses on sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
The ‘ Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. (ANI)
