Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director NVS Reddy launched “Swachh Hyderabad – Swachh Metro” program by administering oath to the employees of HMR and L&TMRHL at Punjagutta Metro Station on Sunday.
Dividing 50km of Metro corridors where Metro works are going on into 11 stretches of 4 to 5 km each, they have undertaken debris clearance, pothole filling, general sprucing up the Metro areas, etc. Posters on Metro pillars and barricades have been removed at various places by these units. NVS Reddy later went round different areas from Punjagutta-Begumpt-Secunderabad-Uppal; Secunderabad-Musheerabad-RTC X Roads-Kachiguda X Roads etc., and encouraged the Metro teams participating in Swachh Hyderabad – Swachh Metro program.
As mentor of West Marredpally unit of GHMC, Reddy and his team of HMR and GHMC officials along with several residents of West Marredpally participated in Swachh Hyderabad programme in Marredpally area. Clearance of debris and garbage in Nehru Nagar park and other places in West Marredpally formed part of it. When problems of water stagnation and accumulation of garbage at some places were brought to his notice by the local residents, he advised GHMC and Water Board officials to attend to the problems immediately. He has also urged the residents to see that garbage is not strewn around indiscriminately but is thrown into the dust-bins properly. (NSS)
