Swabhiman Rally: Lalu plays caste card, says BJP trying to divide Yadavs

Patna, Aug 30 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday played the caste card at the Swabhiman rally here, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to create a divide amongst the Yadavs.

“Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar are two separated brothers and sons of the backward caste. Sushil Modi says, Lalu Prasad’s advent has led to rise in crime graph. This is similar to pointing fingers at Yaduvanshis,” said Lalu Yadav addressing the rally.

“The attempt of the BJP to create a divide among Yadavs won’t succeed,” he added.

Yadav thanked the Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the caste census ordered by the UPA Government which revealed the real status of the backward community in the country.

“Every third person in village is landless, as per this caste census. This comes to around six lakh families. Prime Minister Modi should answer who they are,” he said.

He further slammed the NDA Government for the ‘100 Smart Cities’ project, saying that he would opt for smart villages rather than smart cities.

“We may be poor but we are not fools,” he added.

Taking a jibe at the Prime Minister’s 15 lakh rupees remarks on black money, Yadav said, he has seven daughters and two sons, his family of 11 would have got over rupees one crore at the rate of Rs 15-lakh per person.

Attacking the BJP for its failure in curbing the rising prices of kitchen staple, Yadav asked, ” BJP used to wear garlands of onions when price shot up during Congress rule, what has happened now?”

Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also criticised Prime Minister Modi over his ‘DNA jibe’, saying that the former had insulted the state and challenged its self-confidence.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi who was also present at the Swabhiman Rally accused the NDA Government of indulging in drama for the first quarter of their tenure. (ANI)
