Suvarna Soudha to be ready in Belgaum by July

Bangalore, March 25:The “Suvarna Soudha”, a building to house the State legislature in Belgaum, would be ready by July this year, Public Works Minister C M Udasi said today.

Udasi said the government has decided to hold the monsoon session of the state legislature in July at Suvarna Soudha, being built on the lines of “Vidhana Soudha”, a major landmark and seat of power here.

Officials said the Government has already released Rs 212 crore in the past two years and earmarked Rs 138 crore in the 2011-12 budget for the project, coming up at Halagabastavadi, about 15 kms from Belgaum on Bangalore-Pune Highway.

Udasi said a Rs 50 crore special package had been prepared for Kodagu district for development of roads.

A sum of Rs 235 crore had been released for development of roads in Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe colonies in the State.
