Suspension News False: Rambabu

Hyderabad, July 19: The PCC general secretary, Mr Ambati Rambabu, who tasted the wrath of the Congress high command, has said that he was yet to receive the suspension orders from the party.

Speaking to mediapersons at his residence here at Anand Nagar, Mr Rambabu urged the party high command to reveal the reasons for his suspension. He said that he has not received any message about his suspension either from the high command or the local leadership. “I think the party may not take action against me. Something went somewhere”, he felt.

Mr Rambabu said that he appeared before the PCC Disciplinary Committee on July 12 and sought time till July 31 to submit his explanation. He felt that at this juncture the party could not take action against him. He said that still he was with the Congress party and his relation with the party was very strong. He has high respect towards the high command, the UPA chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi and late leader Mr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. “It will be very painful if the suspension news turns out to be correct”, he added.

Responding to queries from the media, Mr Rambabu said that he would respond only after receiving the orders and added that it was not correct to respond without having the required information.

Criticising a vernacular daily without naming it, Mr Rambabu said the paper has published the news-item with full of falsehood and urged the party activists not to believe that particular news-item. He also alleged that the newspaper had published a false story quoting him. The paper also used objectionable language that was not used by him, he said. That particular newspaper was trying to destabilize the Congress party by publishing false news, he added.

Meanwhile, the former minister, Ms Konda Surekha, urged the high command to withdraw the suspension orders issued against the PCC general secretary, Mr Ambati Rambabu.

Speaking to the media in Warangal on Sunday, Ms Surekha pleaded with the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, to reconsider the suspension order against Mr Rambabu.
