Hyderabad, April 04: It appears that Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy who wants his resignation to the TDP MLA post be accepted at the earliest, will have to wait for some time for deputy speaker Nadendla Manohar to take a decision. A final decision whether to disqualify or accept the resignation of Pocharam is expected to be taken only after a week’s time.
The deputy speaker today called for a meeting in his chambers to discuss the petitions submitted by both the TDP and Srinivasa Reddy.. It is learnt that he sought the advocate general’s legal opinion on the issue at the earliest. He wanted the advocate general to ensure that no legal complications arose after a decision was taken on the petition. He might have at least one hearing with the member concerned before taking a final decision.
“The disqualification petition was served on March 21, and the resignation letter came on March 25. Which should be taken up first and what is the procedure to be adopted in taking action on such petitions?” he reportedly asked Sudershan Reddy. In reply, the advocate general had assured that he would come back with a ‘solution’ shortly.
