Suspense over Jagan arrest: High alert in State

As the interrogation of the Kadapa MP and YSRCP chief YS Jagan moban Reddy by the CBI officials continued till late in the evening on the third day, Sunday, there was intense speculation and suspense over his arrest.

The suspense intensified with the deployment of additional police forces at Dilkusha Guest House, where the interrogation was going on, at the Lotus Pond residence of Jagan, and all the main centres in the city, Police sounding a high alert in Hyderabad, cancellation of leave of all the police personnel in the capital, imposition of section 144 in many places throughout the State, stopping of buses coming to the Capital and also buses going from Vijaywada towards Guntur, Tenali, etc., rushing additional platoons of police to Vijayawada, tightening police security in many cities like Rajahmundry, Kadapa, Guntur; deployment of additional forces at Kadapa, Pulivendula, Mydukur; and other actions taken by the Government.

Reports also indicated that some leaders of YSRCP were arrested by the Police in some places in the State. YSRCP Rangareddy district President Janardhan Reddy was among those reportedly arrested.

By evening, there were rumours that the CBI has arrested Jagan and an official announcement would follow. Another theory that was doing rounds was that there was no need for arresting Jagan today, and the CBI could seek the permission of the Court when he appears before it on Monday and then arrest him.
