Suspended YSRCP leader to join BJP

Raghuramakrishna Raju, an industrialist, who was suspended from the YSR Congress Party, today decided to join the BJP.

Raju today called on BJP national president Rajnath Singh. State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy and West Godavari party president Srinivas Varma were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to the media later, Raju said he has decided to join the BJP because of Gujarat Chief Minister and party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “I am ready to contest from anywhere if party asked me. Though I am with BJP now, the petition filed in the Supreme Court would not be withdrawan as the petition was not against bifurcation of the State. But it was against the way the process of bifurcation was being carried by the Centre”, he said.

Raju will take party membership after returning to Hyderabad in the presence of G Kishan Reddy.

Talking to the media, Kishan Reddy said the party was committed for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. But only thing was that the party wanted justice to the two regions and we will mount pressure on the Centre to render justice to both regions. If the ruling Congress failed to render justice, BJP would do justice after coming to power”, he assured.

He also stated that Telangana Bill must be cleared in Parliament this time. The party recommended some amendments to the bill, Reddy said. (NSS)
