Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Palvai Goverdhan Reddy is likely to face the axe for making remarks against Telangana Congress Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and K Jana Reddy. Disciplinary committee of the T Congress recommended to the AICC to suspend Goverdhan Reddy from the party for violating its code during elections and after the results for general elections are announced.
While serving a show cause notice against Reddy, TPCC sent a communication to the AICC leadership in this regard and sought immediate action against Palvai for targeting AICC leader Digvijay Singh, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Jana Reddy for poll debacle. Palvai has invited the wrath from the party leadership by fielding his daughter Palvai Sravanthi in Munugodu segment on denial of party ticket. As part of alliance, the Congress had given the seat to CPI during the elections. To this, an angry Goverdhan Reddy fumed at the T Congress and AICC and pressed his daughter to fight the poll and campaigned for her.
It may be recalled that Goverdhan Reddy accused Lakshmaiah of selling tickets and minting money, besides seeking his resignation. He also sought that the AICC should take stringent action against Jana Reddy and Lakshmaiah for poll debacle. Besides Palvai alleged that Congress leaders with an eye on Chief Minister post deliberately targeted KCR, and AICC failed to involve the TRS chief in Telangana Bill and state formation. Targeting the party leadership is the reason that led to recommending disciplinary action. Right now the Congress party top brass has taken stock of the poll debacle at the Congress Working Committee meeting held today at Delhi. And it is yet to be known whether AICC will react in this regard.(NSS)
