Suspected gastroenteritis today claimed the lives of two women near Lalgudi in this district,officials said.
Two women, who complained of diarrhoea were admitted to the local primary health centre and later shifted to the
Lalgudi government hospital.But they died, officials said.
One more woman had been affected due to diarrhoea at Athikudi near Lalgudi.
A team of doctors were taking steps to prevent the spread of the infection and also inspecting overhead tanks to
find if water contamination was responsible.
