Hyderabad, October 02: A suspected thief died on the spot after he was shot with an air-rifle allegedly by a doctor in the Jubilee Hills area.
According to police, the incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday at Bharani Layout on Road No 78 in the Jubilee Hills police limits. The inmate – Dr Naresh Reddy was woken by his servant after he heard some noise in their compound. Suspecting that burglars might have entered the house, Dr Reddy took out his licensed air-rifle and went to his balcony. On noticing some suspicious movement in the compound, he reportedly fired two rounds in the dark.
However, one bullet hit a burglar causing his instantaneous death. He was apparently trying to jump out of the boundary wall when he was with a bullet. As a result, he fell on Dr Reddy’s neighbour’s house and died on the spot.
Later, the deceased has been identified as Murali, a native of Rayalaseema. He was accompanied with Shiva of Khammam, who was in a state of shock after the incident. Both are suspected to be professional thieves.
City Police Commissioner AK Khan visited the spot on Saturday morning. The Jubilee Hills police registered a case and started investigations.
