Vadodara, August 30: Purshotam Lal, recipient of Padma Vibhusan, country’s second highest civilian award, has suggested to the Union Health Ministry on appointing a committee to make survey of the private hospitals across the country for treatment of swine flu patients.
Lal, who is a member of Health and Family Welfare, an apex advisory body of the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and also member of Expert Committee for Medical Devices, told PTI here today that with the increase in the number of cases related to swine flu across the country it is necessary to involve private hospitals in treating swine flu related cases.
Lal was in the city in connection with the launching of the radiation therapy, medical linear accelerator at Metro Hospital located on Sama Savli road in the city. The acquisition of Metro hospital hospital will meet the growing healthcare needs of the city and central Gujarat under one roof, it provides a wide spectrum of speciality and super speciality health care, Lal said.
Lal also announced of signing of an MOU with the Gujarat government for the treatment of swine flu cases in the city for which it has made arrangement of 16 isolation wards in the hospitals’ premises here.
The city has recorded two deaths due to swine flu so far.
