Survey proposed for assessing Muslim backwardness

A meeting of the Commission of Enquiry constituted by Govt. of Telangana to assess the educational and economic backwardness of the Muslims held its first meeting yesterday. The commission proposed to conduct a survey to know the backwardness of the Muslims. Mr. G. Sudheer, IAS (Rtd.), Chairman of the Commission presided over the meeting.

Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Jalaaluddin Akbar, IFS, Director of Minorities Welfare, Mr. M.A. Bari, Retired Lecturer, Dr. Amerullah Khan and Prof. Abdul Shaban (members) attended the meeting. It was decided to call for particulars of employment about the Muslims in various departments. It has also been decided to take the help of Minorities organizations. Mr. Omer Jaleel assured that all possible help would be provided by his department. The chairman and the members visited the office of Minorities Finance Corporation and sought the details about various schemes. The next meeting of the commission will be held on 18th August.
