Salem: Six more persons were arrested here today in connection with the murder of a 43-year-old land surveyor attached to Hosur Municipality near here.
Police said all the six accused from Salem were arrested following the interrogation of one person who was arrested on May 28, they said.
With this, the total number of persons arrested in the case has gone up to seven.
Salem range DIG Nagarajan said the deceased Chezhian was abducted and brutally murdered allegedly at the behest of a woman with whom the survey inspector had an illicit relationship.
“The woman from Hosur had complained to the gang of the sexual harassment she was subjected to at the hands of Chezhian, following which the gang kidnapped and murdered him,” he added.
Police are also on the look out for Ekramullah and Kalaivanan, suspected to be the main accused in the case.
Chezhian, a government official belonging to the Revenue Department was found charred to death in his car, which was gutted, at a river bank here on May 28.
