Surveillance centre opened in Cyberabad

Hyderabad, December 29: In view of the growing security concerns in the state capital, a new state-of-the-art technology based surveillance system has been developed by the Cyberabad police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) today.

The new system’s Command and Control Centre (CCC) has been launched at Cyberabad police commissionerate today.

The system’s objectives are to increase surveillance at all sensitive and critical areas for public safety, protect major IT installations, citizens and public property and quick detection of crime by recognition of images.

“The surveillance system also acts as a deterrent,’’ Cyberabad police commissioner S Prabhakar Reddy said, adding that the new initiative would create a safe and secure environment for Cyberabad citizens.

The system is designed to capture, monitor and index videostreams for real-time and video-management applications, an official release said.

“A unified fiber network is provided by installing 17 new HDTV network cameras throughout critical and sensitive locations and linking some of the existing cameras creating a fully redundant back end system to monitor the video, store the images, search and analyse the images,’’ the release said.

“The fiber backbone will allow installation of numerous cameras covering the Cyberabad IT corridor and also to keep a watch on policemen on duty,” Prabhakar Reddy said.

The CCC would host a hardware and software environment with an in-built redundancy for data and video monitoring.

The CCC will allow police to monitor on a 24×7 basis.

The SCSC is a non-profit organisation started in 2006 which functions in tandem with the Cyberabad police for the safety and security of Cyberabad IT corridor.

The project was developed by Ahmedabad- based M/s Checkmate Facility and Electronic Solutions.
