Hyderabad, April 19: The government on Monday asked the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation into the murder of ‘factionist’ Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri from the Hyderabad Detective Department.
CID Additional DG S.V. Ramana Murthy would supervise the investigation of the case, DGP K. Aravinda Rao said.
Suri, who was accused of involvement in several cases, including the murder of Telugu Desam MLA, Paritala Ravindra, was shot dead in his car at Banjara Hills on January 3.
Suri’s close aide, K. Bhanu Prasad, who was travelling in the same car and disappeared soon after the murder, emerged as prime suspect in the case.
He is still at large.
The Hyderabad Central Crime Station probed the case so far.
